Glen Eira Leisure is inviting women to come along and get active at our FREE event as part of VicHealth's This Girl Can Week during 10 - 17 November, 2024.
This Girl Can Event Day at GESAC!
We are hosting a FREE afternoon event on Saturday 16 November, in which you will get access to a group fitness class, followed by a talk from guest speaker; Mursal Sadat about her experience as a player for the Afghanistan Women's National Soccer team whilst being under the ruling of the Taliban. Finish off the afternoon with a meditation and sound healing class.
There will also be a series of FREE, come-and-try classes throughout the week.
This Girl Can 2024 aims to encourage, motivate and inspire women to get active in their own way, on their own terms.

What to Expect:
Session 1: Cycle OR Mat Pilates
Class: Cycle
Class Description: An indoor cycling class where the instructor creates the workout. Sessions may include climbing, sprinting and interval training.
Start Time: 12.30pm
Location: Health Club - Bike Lab at GESAC (200 East Boundary Rd, Bentleigh East, 3165)
Class: Mat Pilates
Class Description: Pilates exercises with and without small equipment such as balls, bands and Pilates rings. Tone your whole body and strengthen your core, while improving posture, alignment and
balance
Start Time: 12.30pm
Location: Health Club - Mind and Body Studio at GESAC (200 East Boundary Rd, Bentleigh East, 3165)
Session 2: Afternoon Tea and Guest Speaker
Mursal Sadat, a former Afghanistan Women's National Soccer team player, relocated to Australia during the 2021 evacuation. She is a strong advocate for women's and refugee rights, having completed leadership programs in Melbourne and working as a fundraiser for Australia for UNHCR. Mursal also uses her personal experiences to raise awareness about the plight of Afghan women under Taliban rule, embodying the spirit of the "This Girl Can" campaign by breaking barriers and empowering women. While playing soccer for AWT Melbourne Victory, she is studying business and sports management, with ambitions to enter politics and serve the community.
Session 3: Meditation and Sound Healing
Class Description: Enter a deep state of relaxation and work through techniques like mindfulness, breathwork, mantra. Embrace the sound healing, using vibrations from instruments such as singing bowls and gongs, to reduce stress and promote balance.

What to Bring:
Please bring a drink bottle and sweat towel.
A mat will be required for Pilates and the Meditation and Sound Healing, we will have plenty available for you to use or you are welcome to bring your own.
