IDAHOBIT 2026
The city of Glen Eira is proud to have a diverse community where everybody belongs. We welcome everyone to celebrate with us, no experience needed.
At GEL, we are committed to ensuring everyone feels welcome, safe, and supported while using our facilities and participating in our sporting leagues.
This year we are celebrating IDAHOBIT again with an all-inclusive Cycle, and Body Step Class, and a Rainbow Netball Round on Wednesday 20 May. We had so much fun last year, and we cannot wait to welcome everybody and do it again.
What is IDAHOBIT?
Sunday 17 May is International Day Against LGBTIQA+ Discrimination (IDAHOBIT).
IDAHOBIT marks the day that homosexuality was removed from the WHO Classification of Diseases in 1990 and represents an important milestone in the recognition of LGBTQIA+ rights globally. IDAHOBIT is a global day of action to raise awareness for LGBTQIA+ rights, combat discrimination, and foster inclusion in schools, workplaces, and communities However, LGBTQIA+ people in Australia still today experience disproportionate rates of bullying, harassment, and discrimination, highlighting the ongoing need for advocacy and education to promote acceptance and equality for all. For more information and resources on maximising LGBTQIA+ inclusion, visit https://www.idahobit.org.au/.
To mark the occasion, we're hosting two special classes at 7pm on Wednesday 20 May at GESAC!
These classes are FREE to members and guests! Bookings are essential as spots are limited.
Members can book via the Member Portal. Guests, please use the link on this page to book your spot!
