Get to know our wonderful staff!

Hi, I’m Libby!

Most of you know me as one of your Group Exercise Instructors here at GEL for the last 9 years. I have also been the Every Body Active Team here for the last 3 years who deliver our Inclusive programs at GESAC and Caulfield Rec. My motto for being active is that exercise should be safe, effective and fun.

I have recently been appointed as the new Programs Coordinator for Glen Eira Leisure. This role gives me a wonderful opportunity to use the experience I have from over 22 years as a Group Exercise Instructor, Inclusive Programs administrator and a lover of all Stadium sports to lead our Programs Team.

We have the most talented, creative and dedicated team of staff here at GEL and I am looking forward to helping them to deliver many engaging and diverse programs for our Glen Eira community. 'Every Body welcome' is our GEL philosophy and I hope you continue to enjoy the wonderful programs we have to offer.

I will still pop up from time to time as an instructor so keep an eye out for me!

Hi, I’m Emerson Wilde!

Yes, this is my real name. And, no, you’re not the first person to ask!

  • Trained in: Gymnastics Coaching, Freestyle Aerobics, BodyAttack, and Reformer Pilates
  • Instructor Idols: Anton Scott and Michelle Dean
  • Spirit Animal: Kate Moss
  • Favourite Instagram Account: @influencersinthewild
  • Wellness Guru: Gwyneth Paltrow

Advice: With so many great options at GESAC, mix up your training between weights, HIIT, and restorative activities. Remember, your joints, ligaments, and bones benefit from rest days. And never underestimate the connections you could make with the people you see regularly at the gym—you might have more in common with them than you think.

What’s My Why?

Health and fitness, especially aerobics and group exercise, are among my top personal values. There’s something uniquely energising about the synergy of music, group energy, physical challenge, and the skill of guiding a group to new heights.

My Fitness Journey

It’s funny—when I was about six, I used to get up at 6 AM to watch Aerobics Oz Style every day. Even then, I knew I’d become an instructor one day. I started my fitness journey at around nine with gymnastics, as it involves strength, conditioning (like Pilates), stretching, and body control. After several years of training, I became a coach, honing my skills in breaking down movements and correcting form for large groups of energetic kids. This experience still shapes how I approach fitness today. After school, I worked as a Lifeguard at Leisurelink, Geelong. While I didn’t enjoy it much, I met some Aerobics Instructors who introduced me to BodyAttack, and the rest is history!

Why Come to My Classes?

  • BodyAttack: This HIIT fitness class combines athletic movements with the high energy of the music and group dynamics. On Monday nights at 7 PM, the lights are low, the beats are pumping, and the club atmosphere is electric! BodyAttack builds fitness stamina with set training objectives and is a great complement to your strength training. I offer options to make the class accessible and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of fitness level. If you’re new or it’s been a while, come along—I’ll help you pace yourself and build your fitness. And remember, it’s all about enjoying yourself; after all, we’ve all been through a lot!

  • Reformer Pilates: With a background in gymnastics, I approach Pilates with a focus on strength, conditioning, and body control. My goal is for you to feel like you’ve truly experienced a Pilates class. I use my coaching experience to set up large groups effectively, ensuring quality and intensity. I emphasise the quality of your movement range to achieve the best results.

What’s Next for Me?

Interestingly, in Year 7, I read a book about a yoga guru and knew at 13 that I would become a Yoga instructor; though I’m saving that for later in life.

Decadent Protein Chocolate Mousse |
Recipe from Personal Trainer and Training Zone Instructor Jess

Decadent Protein Chocolate Mousse
Indulge in a guilt-free treat with this Protein Chocolate Mousse that's both delicious and nutritious. Perfect as a post-workout snack or a light dessert, this mousse combines rich chocolate flavor with a boost of protein. Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients:

  • 4 eggs
  • 12g Cadbury cocoa powder
  • 60g chocolate whey protein powder (VPA recommended for its great consistency)
  • 160g Farmers Union Greek yoghurt

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Egg Whites

Separate the egg whites from the yolks. In a clean bowl, whisk the egg whites until they form stiff peaks.

2. Mix the Chocolate Base

In another bowl, combine the egg yolks with the cocoa powder and Greek yoghurt. Stir until well blended.

3. Fold and Combine

Gently fold the chocolate mixture into the beaten egg whites until fully incorporated, being careful not to deflate the mixture.

4. Chill

Spoon the mousse into four individual bowls and refrigerate until set, typically about 1-2 hours.

5. Serve

Enjoy as is, or top with your favourite garnishes. I personally love adding fresh berries and a sprinkle of chocolate drops for an extra touch of sweetness and texture.

This Protein Chocolate Mousse is not only delicious but also packed with protein, making it a perfect choice for a satisfying and healthy treat!
